About the Position:

The Analyst plays an integral and important part of the Global Securities team by helping to support with portfolio analytics and operations for Timbercreek Investment Management. This an excellent opportunity for someone with 2-4 years of relevant experience to join a growing firm and work closely with the portfolio management team. Key Responsibilities:


  • Support internal (sales, marketing, compliance) and external (client, fund admin, investment manager database) stakeholders with periodic and ad-hoc reporting needs
  • Stay on top of the investment process, history, and characteristics of each products
  • Be a subject matter expert for the calculation and interpretation of performance metrics and asset allocations of the portfolios
  • Perform performance attribution to decipher what had worked / didn’t work, and provide insights on why
  • Create appropriate Excel models from accounting and market data to help the investment team to triangulate answer what-if questions. Examples include but not limited to sensitivity of the portfolio’s returns to shocks in the FX markets, changes to the portfolio’s distributable income given a set of proposed re-balances, etc.
  • Create tables, graphs, and other analytics from data to draw business inferences and/or clearly articulate messages
  • Scrub, clean, load, update large sets of data, data mining as part of ongoing maintenance of our available to improve data completeness and integrity


  • Perform critical daily tasks such as transaction bookings and reconciliations in a timely manner to contribute to the accuracy and readiness of the investment book of record
  • Perform post-trade activities including but not limited to trade matching, confirmation, trade reporting and global equity settlements
  • Work with traders, brokers, and custodians to identify, investigate and resolve portfolio discrepancies and settlement problems
  • Assist with corporate action processing, proxy voting
  • Monitor the mark-to-market of financial derivatives and the level of collateral posted
  • Learn compliance framework and implement / adhere to control procedures
  • Participate in new account onboarding and other relevant projects
  • Support ad-hoc data requests from immediate team members as well as other areas within securities operations.

Job Requirements:

Education and Experience:

  • 2-4 years of experience in the financial services industry. Experiences in fund administration, investment management operation, or portfolio analytics capacities is preferred. Buy-side experience is a plus.
  • An undergraduate degree in Business, Finance, Accounting or a related discipline.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel a must, including a broad range of advanced formulas and built-in functions.
  • Previous experience with enterprise fund accounting and portfolio management software is preferred. Experience with Advent Geneva a plus but not required.
  • Familiarity with Bloomberg, Thomson Reuters or similar financial data providers a plus
  • Working knowledge with Python, VBA, SQL or another programming language a plus

  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and be proactive on tasks assigned without having to rely on extensive oversight and approval
  • A quick learner with the ability to identify trends and anomalies from large amounts of data
