By joining our Advanced Analytics team, you will have the opportunity to apply your graphical development expertise to design, build, translate and communicate statistical data insights into easily understandable visualizations useful for both subject matter experts and business users. You will collect business requirements and establish the need, scope, goal, key stakeholders and success criteria by facilitating visualization workshops and requirements gathering sessions with multiple attendees

You will use your expertise to:

• Assist in setting data visualization goals and deliverables based on the established success criteria and metrics defined for the solution’s success
• Educate clients on data visualization methods and techniques to enhance business decision-making capability
• Develop User Interface (UI) to receive information input from business users into a relational database and non-relational management systems
• Apply information architecture, interactive visual design, quantitative analysis and qualitative user research to create UI for an informed User Experience (UX)
• Design and execute performance tests of front-end applications in a big data context
• Monitor, develop and operate (DevOps) the visualization(s) for existing analytic products
• Collaborate with ecosystem partners to provide the best fit technologies while expanding knowledge of current data analytics and visualization trends
• Research, establish guidance and maintain documentation on data visualization tools and best practices to ensure design consistency for the best UX across the enterprise
• Mentor and coach less-experienced team members and clients on data visualization methods and techniques to enhance business decision-making capability.
• Manage a database/library of visuals and designs library built across analytical products

We’d like to review your application if you have…

Must-haves (minimum requirements):

• 5 years of progressive experience in a data visualization/development role
• A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Statistics or Mathematics, Information Management or a related technical discipline and equivalent work experience
• Full stack (front-end user interface and application back-end) development experience
• The ability to establish and apply data visualization best practices and graphical design principles
• Experience in UI/UX design and development
• Strong organizational skills; able to manage multiple stakeholders and track execution of all details of a program

Preference for:

• Experience with one or more data visualization libraries, frameworks and tools
• Experience with one or more programming/web development language
• Experience with dashboard/reporting tools
• Experience in relational databases and writing SQL code

Where you’ll be working, your work schedule, and other important information:

• You will work out of our Calgary head office, located in the Suncor Energy Centre at 150 – 6th Ave S.W
• Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday, with the potential for extended work hours based on business needs
• We are so invested in building advanced analytics skills within our organization that we've created the Analytics Academy to provide training to employees through instructor-led courses, e-learning, communities of practice, etc.
