Summary of the role 

We are currently seeking a Research Coordinator 2 to assist Dr. Vanessa Taler with the operation of a Canadian Longitudinal Study on Aging (CLSA) data collection site, located at the Bruyère Health Research Institute (Bruyère Health RI).

By working collaboratively with the CLSA's National Coordinating Center, Bruyère Health RI, and the Principle Investigator, the successful candidate will be responsible for the daily operation of the CLSA data collection site. At it's core, this role necessitates adherence to Research Ethics Board policies, maintaining participant retention, and ensuring high quality data is collected within the project's established timelines. The successful candidate is also responsible for scheduling the hours of CLSA Research Assistants (on-site and remote staff), recruiting new Research Assistants when needed, and facilitating a positive team dynamic. Additionally, the Research Coordinator 2 will play a substantial role in budget development and the completion of other financial tasks. 

 

Main duties and responsibilities

  • Project coordination and management to support the projects needs and all associated tasks
  • Liason between the CLSA's National Coordinating Center, Bruyère Health RI, and CLSA participants
  • Maintain testing infrastructure (rooms, equipment, etc.) to the standards set forth by the CLSA and Bruyère Health RI
    • Troubleshooting all equipment issues and contacting manufacturers for regular calibrations or service calls
    • Working with Bruyère Health's facilities management team when needed
  • Financial delegation and responsibility
    • Approving expenses up to $5,000
    • Preparing and submitting all financial forms, including staff reimbursements, invoices, participant stipends, etc. 
    • Financial tracking and preparing reports for funders at the end of each fiscal year
  • Maintain appropriate staffing and promote a positive team dynamic
    • Scheduling staff appropriately as to not be understaffed or overbudget
    • Create job postings, screen applicants, and interview potential hires 
    • Fostering a positive work environment

Additional duties may be added as projects progress

 

Qualifications

  • Bilingual (French/English) 
  • Minimum 5 years of related research experience, or Ph.D. and 3 years relevant experience
  • Good understanding of EDI principles
  • Proficiency in data analysis and interpretation, an asset

  • Excellent coordination and management skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively with people in all levels of healthcare, government and academia
  • Ability to act independently and juggle competing priorities
  • Excellent computer skills
  • Fluent in French and English, an asset
