Finance Systems Business Analyst
About the role
The Opportunity
Reporting to the Director, Business Services, the Finance Systems Analyst supports the administration, maintenance, and optimization of Chartwell's financial systems. The role works closely with Business Services, Operations Finance, and other business partners to support day-to-day system operations, troubleshoot issues, assist with reporting needs, and participate in system enhancements and projects.
This position is ideal for a finance or accounting professional with an interest in business systems, process improvement, and technology. The successful candidate will develop expertise in financial applications while gaining exposure to system administration, reporting, testing, and business process analysis.
Key Accountabilities
Responsible for, but not limited to:
Financial Systems Support
- Support the day-to-day administration and maintenance of Yardi, and related financial systems.
- Assist with the maintenance of system configurations, chart of accounts, entities, users, workflows, and security roles in accordance with established governance procedures.
- Respond to and resolve user inquiries and system issues in a timely and professional manner.
- Assist with user provisioning, system access reviews, and periodic user audits.
- Support monthly and annual financial close activities related to system processing and reporting.
- Assist with troubleshooting and monitoring interfaces between financial systems and related applications.
Reporting & Analysis
- Support the maintenance and testing of standard financial reports.
- Assist in developing new reports and reporting enhancements to meet business requirements.
- Perform data validation, reconciliation, and analysis to ensure accuracy and integrity.
- Provide ad hoc reporting and analytical support to Finance and Business Services.
Projects & Continuous Improvement
- Participate in system upgrades, implementations, and enhancement projects.
- Assist with requirements gathering, testing, documentation, issue tracking, and user readiness activities.
- Execute test plans and document testing results for system changes and upgrades.
- Contribute ideas and recommendations to improve processes, reporting, and user experience.
- Support process improvement and automation initiatives within Finance and Business Services.
Compliance & Controls
- Ensure system changes are appropriately approved, documented, tested and implemented.
- Support compliance with internal controls, audit requirements, and established governance standards.
- Help promote effective use of financial systems and reporting tools across the organization.
Other
- Participate in special projects and initiatives as assigned.
- Other Duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education:
- University degree or college diploma in Business, Accounting, Finance, Information Systems, or a related field.
- Accounting designation or progress toward a professional designation is considered an asset.
Experience:
- Related industry experience (preferred)
- 1-3 years’ experience in accounting, finance, systems administration, or related analytical roles.
- Experience working with financial systems or ERP applications preferred.
- Experience supporting business users and resolving system-related issues is considered an asset.
Skills & Abilities:
- General accounting experience is required and experience with financial statement preparation is an asset.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy.
- Ability to learn new systems and technologies quickly.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills and time-management skills.
- Ability to learn new systems and technologies quickly.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrated customer-service mindset and collaborative approach.
- French/English Bilingualism (written and oral) would be an asset.
Technology & Computer Skills:
- Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills
- Experience working with ERP or financial systems.
- Experience with Yardi is considered an asset.
- Familiarity with Power BI, Power Query, Power Automate is considered an asset.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

- Requires analytical thinking and attention to detail to investigate issues, validate information, and support system processes.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.
Working Conditions
- Occasional irregular hours may be required to support system implementations, upgrades, or period-end activities.
