GitHub AI Consultant
Join Lantern’s Agentic Engineering team as a GitHub AI Consultant — helping enterprises transform how software gets built in the age of AI. You’ll lead engagements that span GitHub Copilot transformation and the cutting edge of agentic software delivery: multi-agent orchestration pipelines, AI-native workflows, and the governance frameworks that make autonomous delivery trustworthy at enterprise scale.
You’ll work directly with engineering and platform leaders to assess where their organizations are today, design systems that close the gap between AI tool adoption and measurable delivery impact, and implement the workflows and governance that teams actually use. Engagements are hands-on — you’ll lead maturity assessments, implement agentic delivery workflows and governance frameworks, and drive the enablement and change management that turns adoption into sustained organizational capability.
Your responsibilities will encompass technical delivery and comprehensive change management to ensure that engineering teams are equipped and empowered to adopt and sustain AI-augmented and agentic delivery practices. This will include creating educational resources, leading onboarding sessions, and providing ongoing support to drive sustained engagement and continuous improvement. You’ll collaborate cross-functionally, partnering with GitHub and Microsoft field teams, enterprise account managers, and client solution leads to align AI engineering work with broader business objectives and digital transformation goals.
Position Responsibilities
Agentic SDLC Transformation: Lead enterprise engagements from SDLC maturity assessment through design, implementation, and scaling of AI-native delivery workflows and multi-agent engineering pipelines. Agent Governance: Design governance frameworks — gate models, audit trails, and autonomy controls — that allow enterprises to earn and extend agent autonomy safely and measurably. GitHub Copilot Transformation: Design and execute enterprise GitHub Copilot adoption strategies, driving measurable developer productivity, value realization, and sustained engagement across large engineering organizations. AI Cost Governance: Design practical AI usage and cost governance approaches that help enterprises manage spend, improve visibility, and keep developer workflows moving fast. Enterprise Enablement & Change Management: Facilitate workshops on AI-assisted development, agentic workflows, and responsible AI practices. Lead the change management programs that help engineering organizations successfully navigate the shift to AI-augmented and agentic delivery. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with GitHub and Microsoft field teams, enterprise account managers, and client solution leads to align AI engineering work with broader business objectives. Collaborate internally with Lantern’s platform, security, and delivery practices to bring the right expertise to every engagement.
You’ll be successful in this role if you can:
Help clients move from AI experimentation to repeatable engineering practices Translate modern software delivery concepts into practical client roadmaps Build trust with both hands-on engineers and executive sponsors Implement practical GitHub-based workflows used by our customers’ engineering teams Measure impact through adoption, productivity, quality, governance, and cost signals
Skills, Knowledge, and Expertise
Required Foundation
4– 6 years of professional experience in software development, platform engineering, or technical consulting Strong development background in Java, C#, Python, or JavaScript/TypeScript Excellent technical communication and client-facing skills. Comfortable presenting findings to engineers and executives alike
Strong Plus
Hands-on experience solving local and cloud engineering challenges with GitHub Copilot using Copilot CLI, Copilot SDK, and GitHub Agentic Workflows Familiarity with a broad range of AI coding tools (ex: Claude Code, Codex, Cursor) across both cloud-hosted and locally deployed configurations Proficiency with GitHub Actions and CI/CD pipeline design; comfortable working within core GitHub platform workflows GitHub Copilot and Agentic AI Developer certifications preferred, but not required
Emerging Technologies We’ll Help You Grow Into
Experience designing or implementing agentic workflows, MCP servers, and multi-agent orchestration Familiarity with LLM pricing models, token optimization, and enterprise AI cost governance
