Greenhill’s generalist Canadian advisory practice is focused on advising clients across a diverse range of industries (including consumer/retail, industrials, real estate, technology, media, communications, business services, and others) on strategic financial matters and significant transactions including mergers, acquisitions, private financings, restructurings, activism defense, strategic reviews, fairness opinions and others. Job Description Greenhill Canada is seeking an experienced Investment Banking Associate (1st or 2nd year) to join its generalist M&A advisory team in Toronto. The Associate will be a core member of the Greenhill Canada team. Associates are directly involved in the design, structuring, and execution of mergers & acquisitions, including both buy-side, sell-side and other strategic advisory mandates for existing and prospective clients. An Associate is expected to understand the implications, identify key industry and product trends and provide input on pitch and deal materials to enhance the ultimate deliverable to our clients. Associates are assigned to a variety of projects and are given a broad range of responsibilities, some of which include: Conduct extensive quantitative economic, industry and company research and analysis Develop detailed valuation models of individual private and public companies, as well as merged entities Develop and prepare highly technical client presentations and materials with a focus on quality, accuracy and timeliness Assist in the evaluation, preparation, due diligence and execution of M&A transactions (including the preparation of process marketing materials – e.g. Confidential Information Memoranda) Assist in the development and continued cultivation of client relationships and assist senior bankers with idea generation Qualifications Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 3 years of investment banking, corporate finance and/or M&A experience with a top-tier investment bank OR a Master of Business Administration degree concentrating in Finance with relevant pre-MBA and/or post-MBA investment banking experience Experience in the execution of M&A transactions and process management is preferred Aptitude to synthesize large amounts of information and develop innovative ideas and/or product solutions Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously Maturity and good judgement in handling confidential and sensitive information Ability to work under pressure and adhere to tight deadlines Strong written and oral communication skills and ability to convey ideas Creativity and intellectual curiosity Ability to work independently and must be able to work effectively in a team environment NOTE: This Job Description is not intended to be an exhaustive list of all responsibilities, skills, efforts or working conditions associated with this job. Compensation The base salary for an Associate position ranges from C$175,000 to C$210,000 per year, depending on level of experience and seniority. In addition to the base salary and an employee benefits package, successful candidates are also eligible to receive a discretionary annual bonus (based on individual performance and team performance, among other factors), resulting in a competitive all-in compensation range for top performers.
