Examination Advisor (Contract until December 2027)

Join CPA Ontario and drive the evolution of professional examinations

CPA Ontario is not like other organizations

We operate at a rare intersection, both regulator and membership body, responsible for upholding the integrity of the CPA designation while supporting more than 105,000 members and 19,000 students across the province. Our work sits between business and the public interest, between the evolving demands of industry and the standards that make trust possible.

Careers built here tend to look different because the work itself is different. You are not simply contributing to an organization. You are helping shape a profession that touches nearly every sector of the economy at a moment when expectations, technology, and the nature of work are all being rewritten.

About This Opportunity:

CPA Ontario is seeking a dynamic Examinations Advisor to help shape the future of professional education. In this contract role, you’ll play a key part in delivering and continuously enhancing the new CPA Professional Program, contributing both strategically and operationally across planning, implementation, and ongoing improvement. You’ll help design and refine examination processes while supporting the successful delivery of exams within both the new Program and existing PEP and PREP pathways.

Reporting to the Education Officer, Examinations, you’ll work collaboratively with internal teams, national CPA partners, and external vendors to ensure a high-quality, seamless examination experience.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Serve as the go-to examination expert, contributing strategic insight and hands-on support to help successfully plan, transition, and launch the new CPA Professional Program.

  • Anticipate and proactively address risks, gaps, and opportunities, ensuring examinations remain fair, reliable, and defensible throughout the program’s evolution.

  • Apply assessment best practices and quality assurance standards while providing thoughtful guidance on complex examination-related questions during implementation.

  • Design and document clear, scalable examination processes and knowledge resources to support long-term program success.

  • Drive continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to streamline workflows, strengthen controls, and enhance the overall experience for candidates and stakeholders.

To Be Successful You Need:

  • A post-secondary degree or diploma in a related field; a Commerce degree is preferred or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • ACPA designation, which is considered an asset.
  • Minimum of three years’ experience in professional education, ideally related to the accounting profession (CPA) or a similar environment; exposure to working on transformational initiatives would be considered an asset.
  • Strong understanding of competency-based education, with knowledge of the CPA Professional Program considered an asset.
  • Proven ability to analyze data, identify trends or risks, and apply sound professional judgment with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion.
  • Demonstrated analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience with process documentation and troubleshooting technical or system-related issues; project planning or project management experience is an asset.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and comfort working with examination or education technology platforms, with the ability to quickly learn new systems.

Salary Range

  • The starting annual salary range for this position is between$66,300 - $82,900 per annum, based on your qualifications, experience, and internal parity. Exceptions may be considered with further review.

Why Join CPA Ontario?

  • We support your well-being through industry-leading benefits, mental health resources, savings programs, and a sustainable approach to how work gets done.

  • We are committed to inclusion as a core part of how we operate, not as an afterthought.

  • We have a hybrid working environment, with three days a week on-site, complemented by 2 days of work-from-home time. We are intentional about that: the work we do benefits from being together. We want those days you work from home to be comfortable and offer a one-time bonus towards a home office when you start.

  • We invest in your growth through learning and professional development opportunities, stretch projects, secondments, and genuine paths for career progression.

  • We move quickly. The pace reflects the profession we serve; it can be demanding, but the work matters, and the team around you is invested in the same outcomes you have.
