Director, Franchise Development, Ontario/Atlantic
About the role
Position Summary The Regional Director Franchise Development serves as the primary relationship leader and trusted advisor for existing franchisees and is accountable for helping brokerage owners and leadership teams maximize growth, profitability, operational effectiveness and long-term success within the Royal LePage network.
The Regional Director Franchise Development is responsible for driving franchise growth, retention, franchise renewals, business planning, operational and strategic coaching, recruiting implementation, performance management and franchisee engagement. Working closely with franchise owners and brokerage leaders, the role ensures franchisees leverage Royal LePage programs, resources and support systems to achieve their business objectives.
The role also serves as the operational steward of the franchise relationship, overseeing the successful implementation of onboarding, lifecycle initiatives and succession planning programs developed by the Franchise Experience
Foster strong cross-functional collaboration across the organization by leveraging subject matter experts and business leaders to deliver insights, resources, and solutions that support franchisee success. Act as a key connector between franchisees and internal teams, ensuring franchisees are engaged, informed, and able to maximize the value of the organization's programs, services, and expertise.
Key Accountabilities:
Franchise Growth & Business Performance Partner with franchise owners and leadership teams to develop and execute business growth strategies Support franchisees in achieving agent growth, productivity and profitability, recruiting and profitable objectives Conduct regular business reviews with franchise ownership and leadership teams Identify performance improvement opportunities and develop action plans Assist franchisees in addressing operational challenges and business risks Support the development and execution of annual brokerage business plans
Franchise Retention & Renewals Lead franchise retention efforts across the network Develop and maintain strong relationships with franchise owners and brokerage leaders Identify retention risks and implement proactive mitigation strategies Lead franchise renewal discussions and negotiations Support succession planning discussions in partnership with the Director, Franchise Experience Ensure franchisees understand, recognize and realize the value of their Royal LePage affiliation
Recruiting Implementation & Talent Growth Support franchisees in implementing recruiting strategies, tools and programs developed by the Recruiting Team Coach franchise owners and brokerage leaders on recruiting execution and accountability Promote adoption of recruiting tools, resources and best practices Monitor recruiting performance and identify and report on opportunities for improvement Support franchisees in building sustainable recruiting and retention cultures Collaborate with recruiting and business development team to strengthen network growth initiative
Franchise Lifecycle Implementation Manage and execute the successful operational implementation of franchise lifecycle initiatives, ensuring successful progression through key stages of the franchise relationship Establish and maintain proactive strategic touchpoints with franchise owners and leadership teams to anticipate needs, strengthen engagement, and support long-term business success Ensure franchisees successfully progress through lifecycle stages Support the onboarding, integration, and early-stage success of new franchisees, facilitating a smooth transition into the Royal LePage system. Partner closely and collaborate with the Director, Franchise Experience to ensure lifecycle programs, engagement strategies and franchise support initiatives achieve intended outcomes Provide feedback and insights on franchisee needs, lifecycle trends, and engagement opportunities to support the continuous improvement of franchise programs and services.
Operational Excellence Support implementation of the Brokerage Operations, Best Practices and Franchise Standards Manuals Recommend and support ongoing enhancements to operational standards, best practices, policies, and manuals to reflect evolving business needs, market conditions, regulatory requirements, and franchisee feedback. Promote the use of operational tools, systems, and resources that improve business performance Communicate updates, changes, and enhancements to franchisees and support successful adoption through ongoing education and engagement. Assist franchisees in improving efficiency, consistency and performance Identify operational challenges and facilitate solutions through collaboration with internal subject matter experts
Relationship Management & Franchise Engagement Serve as the primary business relationship leader for franchise owners and brokerage leadership teams Develop and build trusted advisor relationships throughout the network Facilitate collaboration and sharing of best practices and success stories among franchisees Support franchise engagement through regular communication business reviews meetings and network events Act as the primary escalation point for operational and business issues, partnering with subject matter experts to identify solutions, remove obstacles, and drive resolution Encourage continuous improvement and operational discipline across the franchise network
Experience & Qualifications Minimum 10 years of progressive leadership experience within the real estate industry Experience as a Brokerage Owner, Broker of Record, General Manager, Regional Director, Franchise Executive or equivalent leadership position Strong understanding of brokerage operations, recruiting, franchise systems and business development Demonstrated success driving business growth, retention and operational performance Experience managing executive-level client or franchise relationships Strong negotiation, coaching and relationship management skills Proven ability to influence business owners and senior leaders Excellent communication, facilitation and presentation skills
