The salary range for this position is:

  • Recruitment range: $75,755 - $83,525 starting salary determined by the PEA Collective Agreement.
  • Performance range: $98,528 salary range ceiling is available through annual performance increases.

Job Summary

Mandate:
The Research Team Lead provides leadership and coordination for faculty-wide research administration and support services within the Faculty of Engineering and Computer Science. Working closely with the Associate Dean Research, the position develops and maintains effective processes, resources, and guidance that enable faculty members and research teams to successfully secure and manage research funding.

The role serves as a key liaison between faculty researchers and university research support units, ensuring compliance with institutional and funding agency requirements while strengthening the faculty’s capacity for competitive grant development and effective post-award management.

Objectives:

  • Strengthen the faculty’s research funding success by supporting strategic and coordinated grant development.
  • Build capacity among faculty members and research teams in grant preparation, research administration processes, and funding agency requirements.
  • Develop and maintain efficient systems, procedures, and resources that support research proposal development, funding administration, and reporting.
  • Provide leadership and coordination for the faculty’s research support function, ensuring effective service delivery and continuous improvement of research administration practices.

Job Requirements

This position requires a graduate degree and a minimum of three (3) years of related experience working in a research environment. An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered.

Knowledge, skills, and abilities include:

  • Commitment to valuing diversity and contributing to an inclusive and respectful working and learning environment.
  • Demonstrated experience in research grant preparation.
  • Knowledge of Canadian funding agency requirements and post-award research administration processes.
  • Ability to interpret and apply complex policies, guidelines, and funding regulations.
  • Demonstrated experience leading or coordinating teams and supporting collaborative work environments.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage complex processes and timelines.
  • Demonstrated financial and budget administration experience related to research projects or programs.
  • Ability to build productive working relationships with faculty, researchers, and administrative units across the university.
  • Experience developing tools, resources, or processes that improve administrative efficiency.
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to review and provide feedback on complex documents.
  • Proficiency with common administrative and research systems (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite, research administration systems).
