Senior Director, Business Development @ Life Science Consultancy Remote across Canada or the US, with expected travel Full time, permanent role
Company & Role Overview Join a growing boutique life sciences consulting firm that partners with pharmaceutical and biotechnology organizations across North America to solve complex scientific, clinical, regulatory, and commercial challenges. With a collaborative, cross-functional team and continued investment in innovative capabilities, the organization supports clients throughout the entire product lifecycle, from early development through commercialization. As the Senior Director, Business Development, you will play a critical leadership role in driving commercial growth, developing strategic client partnerships, and expanding the firm's presence across the life sciences industry. This is a highly visible opportunity to work closely with executive leadership while helping shape the future of a rapidly growing consulting business. This is a remote position based in Canada. Job Duties Develop and execute business development strategies to drive revenue growth across existing accounts and new client opportunities within the pharmaceutical and biotechnology sectors. Build, manage, and expand executive-level relationships with key stakeholders, acting as a trusted advisor and strategic partner. Lead the full business development lifecycle, including prospecting, opportunity qualification, proposal development, contract negotiations, and deal closure. Collaborate with scientific, medical, regulatory, commercial, and operations teams to develop tailored client solutions and deliver compelling proposals and presentations. Represent the organization at industry conferences, networking events, and client meetings while maintaining accurate sales forecasts, CRM activity, and pipeline reporting.
Job Requirements 7-10+ years of business development, consulting, agency, or commercial experience within the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or life sciences industry. Proven track record of developing executive-level client relationships and securing multimillion-dollar consulting or professional services engagements. Strong network within the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or broader life sciences industry, with expertise in consultative, solution-based sales. Advanced degree preferred, including a PhD, PharmD, MD, MBA, MSc, or another advanced scientific or business qualification with strong scientific acumen. Exceptional communication, negotiation, and leadership skills, with the ability to collaborate cross-functionally, lead business development initiatives, and thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
