Position Summary: IT Applications Analyst (Student/Co-op)

As an IT Applications Analyst Student/Co-op in the aerospace industry, you will support the day-to-day operation of enterprise applications used across engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, and maintenance (e.g., ERP, PLM, MES, CRM, MRO/CMMS, and other SaaS and On-Prem platforms). You will triage tickets, analyze issues, assist with configuration and enhancements, and support testing and releases in an environment that values documentation discipline, traceability, and controlled change. Working with business partners and IT teams, you will help translate user needs into clear requirements, document solutions, and contribute to application reliability, security, and compliance.

Essential Functions

Application Support & Operations

  • Triage and resolve application incidents and service requests using the ServiceNow ITSM/ticketing tool; escalate appropriately and communicate status and timelines.
  • Investigate and troubleshoot application issues by interacting with the end user, reviewing logs, reproducing defects, validating data across integrated systems, and coordinating with vendors/key business-side owners to implement fixes or workarounds.
  • Support routine application administration and configuration changes (e.g., access requests, master data updates, workflow/config parameter changes) following documented procedures, configuration control, and change approval.
  • Assist with monitoring application health (jobs/queues, integrations, interfaces) and help identify trends/opportunities for proactive improvements to reduce downtime and rework.
  • Maintain system configuration documentation and knowledge articles, creating new as required.

Business & Systems Analysis

  • Elicit and document requirements by partnering with stakeholders; help translate needs into user stories/functional specs with clear acceptance criteria and traceability to business and compliance needs.
  • Document processes, data flows, and configuration decisions (SOPs/work instructions where applicable) to support supportability, training, and audit-ready records.
  • Support root-cause analysis (RCA) and contribute to problem management by identifying patterns and recommending corrective/preventive actions.

Data, Reporting & Integration Support

  • Write and optimize basic SQL queries to support troubleshooting, validation, and reporting.
  • Assist with data imports/exports, integrations, and interfaces (e.g., file-based or API-based) between systems.
  • Perform data reconciliation and validation checks to help ensure data accuracy and integrity across applications.

Testing, Change & Release Support

  • Assist with test planning and execution (unit, regression, and UAT support) and document results and defects.
  • Support change management by preparing implementation and rollback steps, coordinating cutovers with operations, validating outcomes post-deployment, and contributing to release notes/user communications.
  • Follow information security and compliance practices (least privilege, data classification/handling) and support access reviews and audit requests; comply with any applicable export control/controlled goods requirements.

Collaboration & Continuous Improvement

  • Collaborate with business partners, developers, and vendors to deliver enhancements and maintain stable, well-supported applications.
  • Participate in stand-up meetings, backlog management sessions and contribute to continuous improvement of support processes and documentation.
  • Identify opportunities to automate repeatable tasks (scripts, workflows, reporting) to improve operational efficiency and user experience.

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in a degree/diploma program in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • Foundational knowledge of application support concepts (incidents, service requests, problem management).
  • Basic programming/scripting experience (e.g., Python, C#, Java, JavaScript, or PowerShell) and willingness to learn new tools quickly.
  • Basic SQL skills for querying and validating data.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical issues in clear, user-friendly language.
  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a customer-service mindset.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Exposure to ticketing/ITSM tools (e.g., ServiceNow) and Agile tools (e.g. DevOps).
  • Understanding of software development methodologies (e.g. Agile, DevOps)
  • Exposure to cloud platforms (Azure) and identity/access concepts (MFA, RBAC/least privilege).
  • Exposure to aerospace/manufacturing applications and processes (e.g., PLM, MES, CMMS/MRO, quality management, supply chain) through coursework, projects, labs, or prior co-op/internship work.
  • Familiarity with configuration management concepts (engineering change requests/orders, BOMs, revisions) and the importance of traceability.
