Title and Summary VP, Strategy, Pricing & Interchange Overview As the Vice-President of Pricing & Interchange for the Canada Region, you will define the country’s pricing strategy and design, assess, and implement initiatives to strengthen MasterCard’s’ competitive position in Canada. You will manage regulatory requirements related to pricing and interchange, ensure a controlled operating environment and support business development, market expansion and revenue growth. You will be working with MasterCard’s’ rich data assets to derive mission critical data sets and insights that support business operations, strategy, customer contract administration and regulatory reporting. You will lead a team in developing & implementing pricing and interchange strategies, building new tools to inform how we set our pricing and interchange, and conducting analysis on strategic questions & issues to provide critical counsel to Regional management. This position reports to the Vice President- Strategy, Pricing and Interchange, Business Excellence and Risk Management, Canada Region. Major responsibilities • Develop and refine strategies that are consistent with business objectives and regulatory requirements • Leverage, lead and contribute to developing models and frameworks for assessing pricing and interchange • Make holistic assessments on interchange initiatives along strategic, customer, financial impact, and risk and feasibility angles. (e.g., run financial impact simulations on country, product and customer level or run competitive economics analysis) • cost studies that underpin the Interchange propositions • Prepare recommendations and necessary materials for decision making and recommendations to Management • Model outcomes and connect the dots across the value chain to inform decision making • Provide general internal counsel on customer economics, support business development • Provide direct support to account teams and to customers on customer economics • Conduct strategic analysis as needed to help evaluate new ideas, benchmark across MasterCard’s products and services, and inform decisions on pricing and interchange levels • Drive economics reviews, including new products, GTM strategy, repricing, and other strategic initiatives • Apply analytical rigor (both qualitative and quantitative), apply problem solving skills, understanding customer value and develop creative solutions to key challenges which ultimately drive top-line revenue growth • Manage recurring business processes that reply on database data sets, SQL ETL and other data conversions into end user materials/BI. • Support Government and Public Affairs on matters relating to pricing, interchange or Mastercard’s business model and business affairs in the Canadian payments eco-system • Participate in cross-functional teams and liaise closely with various internal and external stakeholders, e.g. Product, Finance, Operations, Legal, Customers, consultants… Requirements: • Proven payments industry knowledge and the ability to explore and constantly learn about market and industry trends and their impact on MA’s business model • Advance experience with financial modeling (e.g., P&L projections, Cost-benefit, ROI) • Problem solving – turn analytical insight into actionable recommendations • Strong leadership skills; build alignment without direct authority • Ability to interact effectively, across multiple functions, geographies and levels • Excellent verbal and written communication skills - ability to communicate findings in a compelling manner to internal and external audiences, including senior level executives • Strong project management skills • Ability to proactively deliver within agreed deadlines • Sound judgment to identify emerging issues and escalate as required • Advanced skills in Excel, database query tools, ETL SQL, Modelling&Analytics, and proficiency in PowerPoint & Word Education : • Bachelors Degree required; MBA or advanced degree in economics or financial field desirable All about you • BA/BSC, (MBA a plus), with previous experience in at least one of the following areas, strategy, consulting, finance, economics, and pricing • The ideal candidate is fast-paced and highly analytical who demonstrates business acumen and thought leadership • Ability to influence C-level and senior leadership across a global, decentralized organization • Proven ability to build and maintain strong, productive working relationships with internal stakeholders and external customers • Proven ability to lead a high-functioning, creative, execution-oriented teams • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal Mastercard is a merit-based, inclusive, equal opportunity employer that considers applicants without regard to gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, race, ethnicity, disabled or veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by law.
