About the role

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Director, Events based in Canada.

This leadership role offers the opportunity to shape and execute a global events strategy that drives brand visibility, customer engagement, and business growth.

You will own the full event lifecycle, from strategic planning and budgeting to execution, measurement, and continuous improvement.

The position combines strategic thinking, operational excellence, and team leadership within a fast-paced technology environment.

You will collaborate with marketing, sales, customer, product, and executive teams to create impactful experiences that support revenue and relationship goals.

You will lead a talented events function while building scalable processes, frameworks, and best practices.

This role is ideal for an experienced events leader who thrives on delivering exceptional experiences and measurable business outcomes.

Accountabilities

As Director, Events, you will lead the strategy, planning, and execution of a comprehensive events program, ensuring each initiative supports business objectives and delivers exceptional attendee experiences. You will oversee event operations, budgets, vendors, teams, and cross-functional collaboration while establishing scalable processes that improve impact and efficiency.

Own and execute the overall events strategy across company-hosted events, conferences, trade shows, customer events, regional programs, and virtual experiences. Build and manage annual and quarterly event roadmaps, recommending opportunities to launch, expand, adjust, or discontinue initiatives based on business impact. Define event goals and success metrics related to brand awareness, engagement, sales meetings, pipeline contribution, customer relationships, partner engagement, and attendee experience. Manage the complete event lifecycle, including strategy, planning, logistics, execution, follow-up, reporting, and optimization. Develop project plans, timelines, budgets, stakeholder communications, and post-event analysis frameworks. Oversee event logistics including registration, agendas, speakers, venues, production, staffing, travel, booth experiences, materials, technology, and attendee communications. Lead trade show strategy and execution, including sponsorship management, booth planning, lead capture, and engagement activities. Collaborate with Marketing, Sales, Customer Success, Product Marketing, Finance, Legal, Communications, and leadership teams to align objectives and execution plans. Manage event budgets, forecasts, vendor relationships, contracts, purchase orders, invoices, and cost optimization initiatives. Identify, negotiate with, and manage external vendors, agencies, technology providers, and event partners. Build event operating models, playbooks, templates, reporting processes, and measurement frameworks to improve scalability. Analyze event performance using metrics such as attendance, engagement, leads, pipeline impact, customer feedback, costs, and return on investment. Manage and develop direct reports, contractors, agencies, and temporary event staff through coaching, prioritization, and performance support. Establish risk management practices and contingency plans for event-related challenges. Support onsite event execution, including occasional travel, evenings, and weekends when required.

Requirements

You are an experienced events leader with a strong background in B2B marketing, event strategy, and operational execution. You combine strategic vision with strong project management skills and have the ability to lead teams, manage complex programs, and deliver measurable business results.

Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, Hospitality, Event Management, or a related field preferred, or equivalent practical experience. 6+ years of experience in events, field marketing, experiential marketing, integrated marketing, or B2B marketing roles. Proven experience managing diverse event programs, including conferences, trade shows, customer events, executive programs, webinars, virtual events, and hybrid experiences. Experience managing events from initial strategy through execution, reporting, and continuous improvement. Strong project management skills with experience managing multiple timelines, budgets, vendors, and stakeholders simultaneously. Experience managing event budgets, vendor negotiations, contracts, invoices, purchase orders, and financial reporting. Experience managing Statements of Work, Service Level Agreements, contracts, and vendor change requests. Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams including Marketing, Sales, Customer Success, Product, Finance, Legal, and executive stakeholders. Familiarity with event and marketing technologies such as Cvent, Swoogo, Zuddl, ON24, Salesforce, HubSpot, Monday.com, Asana, or similar platforms. Experience in B2B SaaS, technology, or high-growth environments is preferred. Experience developing event processes, playbooks, templates, reporting systems, and measurement frameworks. Strong understanding of how events contribute to brand awareness, customer engagement, pipeline generation, and business growth. Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills. Strong attention to detail with the ability to remain organized in fast-paced environments. Ability to solve problems quickly, manage changing priorities, and maintain professionalism under pressure. Experience mentoring and developing team members. Project management, event management, or related certifications are a plus.

Benefits
