In support of achieving excellence and business results through safe, reliable operations, our Information Technology Division is currently hiring for an experienced Director of Data and Artificial Intelligence reporting to the Chief Information Officer (CIO) and Head of Digital Transformation. The Director of Information Technology (Director, Data and AI) is a senior leadership role responsible for driving the adoption of data-driven decision-making, implementing advanced analytics and AI solutions, and overseeing the management of enterprise data to enhance operational efficiency, reliability, and safety at Bruce Power. They lead the teams implementing enterprise data management and governance, advanced analytics, automation, and AI solutions for Bruce Power. They require a digital mindset as they are at the forefront of driving the organizations digital transformation, while also being a strategic leader, managing the strategy, budget, external partnerships and contracts, and internal resources for the department. The Director must have strong leadership skills, excellent communication, and a deep understanding of the latest technologies and trends in the industry. They must also be able to work collaboratively with other departments and stakeholders to ensure that the IT department is aligned with the organization’s overall goals and objectives today and into the future. This is a permanent, full-time position which offers a competitive benefits, compensation and pension package and is located on site in Tiverton, Ontario. What will you be responsible for? Delivery of innovative data and technology solutions, to drive safety and efficiency in our Stations and across site, for approximately 10,000 users. Develop and execute comprehensive strategy around Enterprise Data Management (EDM), Advanced Analytics, Automation (RPA) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) that is aligned with the organization's roadmap and business objectives. Oversee the implementation of Business Information, and Analytics projects, ensuring they are delivered in accordance with committed scope, schedule and cost. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and prioritize opportunities for leveraging AI, analytics, automation and data management to drive business improvements. Provide department oversight to ensure the seamless integration, accessibility, and governance of structured and unstructured data across the enterprise. Stay abreast of industry trends and advancements in AI, analytics, and data management, and assess their applicability to the organization's operations. Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, including data protection and privacy laws. Oversee the enterprise data management practices, ensuring data quality, data governance, and data security standards are met. Foster a culture of innovation and continuous learning within the IT division. Provide leadership to the organization with regards to the development of a digital mindset while acting as a leader and a teammate driving our digital transformation. Partner with the Information Security team to ensure secure technology services, compliance standards and processes are adhered to. Lead a team of Managers and technology professionals and is accountable for the delivery of data and AI services. Manage supplier partners in execution of delivery services. Provide day-to-day coordination across departments. Specific Accountabilities: Leadership Adopt and promote the Bruce Power values, demonstrating leadership in behaviours that support these values Develop a vision and mission for the department Lead and manage a team of IT professionals, including data and integration analysts, database administrators and software developers. Foster teamwork and a stimulating work environment to ensure a high level of engagement of your staff Provide guidance, mentoring, coaching and performance feedback to team members Ensure that all staff in your department have appropriate skills and knowledge in performance of their duties Foster a positive work environment, encourage professional development, and promote collaboration within the IT department Budgeting and Contract Management Develop a business plan and budget for the department, ensuring value for money and achievement of the business plan while reducing risk Develop and manage the IT Data and AI budget, ensuring optimal allocation of resources and cost control Identify opportunities for cost savings and efficiencies in IT operations Collaborate with procurement and vendor management teams to negotiate and manage contracts with technology vendors and service providers Strategic Planning Develop and implement IT strategies, policies, and procedures aligned with the organization's goals and objectives Identify emerging technologies and trends to enhance IT solutions and operations and optimize business processes Collaborate with executive leadership to define the IT roadmap and prioritize projects based on business needs Data, Advanced Analytics, Automation and Artificial Intelligence Oversee the idea generation, design, implementation, maintenance and support of new, innovative solutions for the business, be they automation (RPA) associated with process efficiency, Machine Learning solutions, generative AI, computer vision, etc. Continue the implementation of enterprise data management and governance ensuring Bruce Power has the data in the state required to leverage and drive automation and AI solutions Develop and enforce IT operations standards, policies, and procedures to ensure efficient and secure operations; design solutions with security and support in mind Own and execute the software development lifecycle for the IT Division, including leading the development of custom solutions Monitor solution performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement appropriate solutions and improvements Establish and manage service level agreements (SLAs) with internal stakeholders and external vendors Deliver projects with excellence and customer focus in mind – be quality, results and customer focused Ensure the timely resolution of IT incidents, problems, and service requests Continuously evaluate and improve Foster a customer-centric approach to IT service delivery, ensuring high levels of user satisfaction Compliance Provide support to your supervisor in managing the division in accordance with applicable legislation, policies, programs, procedures, and agreements Maintain up-to-date department documentation which lays down procedures for ensuring that correct and safe practices are followed Participate in audit initiatives and develop and lead the execution of continuous improvement plans Knowledge and Skills: In-depth knowledge of data, analytics, automation, AI and ML Proven experience in a leadership role with accountability for data, analytics, data management, automation and AI/ML functions Strong understanding of AI technologies, data engineering, analytics methodologies, software development and data management principles Excellent project management skills and experience leading complex, cross-functional projects Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders Ability to work with nontechnical customers, understand their business challenge, and develop innovative solutions to address the business problem(s) Strategic thinker with a track record of driving innovation and change Strong leadership and team management, coaching and mentoring skills, with the proven ability to motivate and inspire a diverse team of IT professionals Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities, with a strategic mindset Familiarity with cybersecurity best practices and compliance requirements Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders at all levels of the organization High level of accountability in self and ability to drive this culture across the team to achieve commitments on time and with quality Sound understanding/knowledge of application / solution development, and the ongoing enhancement and support of these solutions Understand of modern data integration architecture and technologies Process-oriented with project management skills Proven ability to consistently and collaboratively resolve issues, mitigate roadblocks, and meets all financial and management goals on time Business acumen with the ability to understand business priorities, operations, and IT enablement potential Ability to think creatively to solve problems Education and Experience Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or a related field Proven experience in a senior IT management role responsible for enterprise data, automation, AI/ML, and/or application development 10+ years of experience in information technology, with a minimum of 5 years leading and managing a best in class IT team Strong understanding of AI technologies, data engineering, analytics methodologies, and data management principles Excellent project management skills and experience leading complex, cross-functional projects Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders Strategic thinker with a track record of driving innovation and change Proven ability to effectively lead and meet business objectives in a dynamic, collaborative and high performance work environment Demonstrated experience in vendor and contract management and capacity planning in a fast growth environment Proven track record of managing IT budgets and supplier relationships Experience in developing and implementing IT strategies and roadmaps aligned with business objectives Are you ready for a change?
