About the role
About Us
Denvr is a vertically integrated AI Platform Services company with headquarters in Calgary, Canada. We provide foundational compute infrastructure and services to support the broader AI ecosystem and its end users. The platform includes cloud-native solutions for training, inference, high-performance computing, data processing, scalable storage, and a suite of software toolsets that accelerate the development, deployment, and integration of AI applications.
These capabilities are accessible via the public Denvr AI Cloud or through Private AI Platform Services, which offer fully dedicated, sovereign environments with enhanced security. Private deployments incorporate advanced data centers, optimized compute architectures, high-throughput storage fabrics, and tightly integrated platform operations software—engineered to meet the demands of large-scale, mission-critical AI workloads. We design proprietary AI Data Centers powered by our ultra-efficient, modular data centers built for hyper-scale AI deployments.
At Denvr, we’re driven to create exceptional customer experiences that empower AI innovators, entrepreneurs, and enterprises to achieve real results. Our mission is to help unlock breakthroughs that transform industries, enhance creativity, and shape a better future.
Why Join Us
Joining Denvr means being part of a world-class team in the fast-moving field of AI and high-performance computing. We value curiosity, collaboration, and continuous learning. Our people are proactive problem solvers who take pride in delivering great results, thrive in open and transparent environments, and enjoy learning by doing. If you’re forward-thinking, motivated by innovation, and excited to help drive a rapidly growing business, Denvr is the place to make an impact—and grow your career alongside exceptional teammates.
The Mission
Denvr isn’t building traditional data centers; we are manufacturing the future of AI infrastructure. We are actively seeking a qualified Data Center Technician in Calgary. As a rapidly expanding startup, we thrive on the versatility of our team members who excel at donning various hats, continuously learning, and evolving alongside the company. The ideal candidate should possess expertise in server repairs, along with a comprehensive understanding of GPU servers, including Nvidia, Habana Gaudi, and AMD, and the proficiency to operate and repair them efficiently.
As the ideal candidate, you will champion and foster a culture of security and safety, with a keen focus on customer needs, emphasizing uptime and availability, and ensuring the data center operates at peak performance.
What You’ll Do
Serve as the primary point of contact for physical server, networking, and storage issues within the data center. Be available on-call and respond on-site at our data centers as required, including nights/weekends when incidents demand it. Prioritize and carry out break/fix tasks, hardware installation, basic repairs and component swaps when appropriate, to ensure work meets KPI and SLA targets. Collaborate with Service teams, ODM, OEM, and other third-party vendors to open tickets, apply advanced diagnostic and troubleshooting expertise for swift issue identification, and support the completion of work and special projects. Troubleshoot physical-layer connectivity issues within the data center. Perform the physical install or removal of GPU servers into/from the liquid immersion tanks with assistance from other team members, safely handling heavy, high-value equipment and following all immersion-fluid handling and safety protocols. Interact with, troubleshoot, and perform occasional firmware updates on Server BMCs and BIOS. Understand the interactions between network and server equipment, including rack/tank layout, cabling, and power distribution in an immersion-cooled environment. Demonstrate proficiency in standard processes and procedures for equipment handling, diagnostics, troubleshooting, replacement, and decommissioning. Maintain accurate records of hardware inventory, repairs, RMAs, and tank/rack configurations, and ensure our CMDB properly reflects any changes made to the equipment. Exercise judgment, communicate clearly and work effectively with internal teams and external vendors to contribute to issue tracking, follow-up, root cause analysis, and overall service quality. Follow and help create/refine documented procedures for safe and effective equipment handling in a liquid immersion environment. Champion a culture of security and safety, with a focus on uptime, availability, and peak data center performance. Provide regular, executive-level reporting on data center operations, incidents, and key metrics, both internally and to external stakeholders as needed.
Who You Are
Associate degree in a technical field, relevant certifications, or equivalent hands-on experience. 5+ years of experience working directly with server and network hardware in a data center environment. Liquid Immersion: Experience with, or strong willingness to learn, liquid immersion cooling systems and safe handling of immersion fluids. Mindset: Independent problem-solver with a strong troubleshooting mindset, and the ability to prioritize effectively during incidents. Physical Labour: Comfortable lifting and maneuvering heavy server equipment, including work around liquid-filled tanks. Communication Skills: Clear written and verbal communication skills for documenting issues and coordinating with vendors and internal teams.
Technical Toolkit
GPU Servers: Hands-on experience with GPU servers (Nvidia, Habana Gaudi, AMD or similar) including installation, diagnostics, and component-level repair. Server Systems: Solid understanding of server systems: SBIOS, BMC, power, cabling, and rack/tank layouts. Server Management and Monitoring: Familiarity with IPMI/SNMP/Redfish for remote server management and monitoring. Network, Cabling and transceivers: Practical experience with network switches, cabling and fiber optics and transceivers — troubleshooting layer 1 connectivity, cleaning, testing, and replacement. Learning Frameworks: Experience with machine learning/deep learning frameworks (PyTorch, TensorFlow) or benchmarking tools (DeepSpeed, MLPerf) is a plus but not required.
Work Expectations
Full-time role 40hours/week On-call availability and on-site response as needed outside normal hours. Travel: Some travel within Alberta is required.
If you are passionate about technology, system design and innovative technical solutions, and want to be part of a remote-first forward-thinking company, Denvr would love to hear from you.
