The Strategic Policy & Planning branch provides strategic engagement, policy and legislation services for the department of Justice, including corporate planning and reporting, policy coordination, and agency oversight and appointments.Role Responsibilities Are you interested in contributing to strategic policy, engagement, and coordination initiatives that support Alberta's justice system? The Strategic Engagement unit is seeking a highly motivated professional to join our team as a Coordination & Engagement Analyst.   Reporting to the Manager of Strategic Engagement, you will provide research, analysis, project coordination, and engagement support on a variety of strategic initiatives, policy projects, and cross-ministry activities. Working in a dynamic and collaborative environment, you will help ensure the department's priorities and interests are effectively represented in by seeking input from stakeholders and the public on policy development, ministry and government-wide initiatives.   In this role, you will:

Support the planning, coordination, and delivery of strategic engagement projects that advance ministry and government priorities. Conduct research, environmental scans, and analysis on emerging issues, trends, legislative developments, and policy matters affecting Alberta's justice system. Assist in the development and implementation of engagement strategies, plans, and activities involving internal and external stakeholders. Coordinate departmental input and responses to cross-ministry initiatives, ensuring information is accurate, timely, and reflective of departmental priorities. Prepare briefing materials, decision documents, correspondence, presentations, reports, and other materials to support executive and senior leadership decision-making. Build and maintain collaborative relationships with stakeholders across the department, Government of Alberta, and external organizations. Monitor and track projects, commitments, and action items to support effective project delivery and accountability. Support participation on working groups, committees, and project teams to advance strategic initiatives and support integrated policy development. Identify issues, risks, and opportunities, and provide recommendations to support informed decision-making and continuous improvement. Contribute to legislative and regulatory projects through research, analysis, stakeholder engagement, and coordination activities.

  Success in this role requires strong analytical and communication skills, sound judgment, initiative, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. University degree in a related discipline (such as social sciences, public or business administration, law or other). 2 years related strategic engagement experience.

  Assets:

Experience supporting engagement activities including drafting strategic engagement plans and developing engagement materials. Experience with event coordination and hosting processes (such as vendor processing and accommodations). Experience developing and writing reports, briefings, policy documents, and/or presentations with recommendations to senior leadership. Project management and coordination experience.

  The following equivalencies may be considered:

A related Masters plus related experience. A related two-year diploma plus a minimum of 4 years related experience. A related one-year certificate plus a minimum of 5 years related experience. No post-secondary education plus a minimum of 6 years related experience.

Full time permanent position located in Edmonton (Oxbridge Building). Hours of work: 7.25 hours per day / 36.25 hours per week (Monday - Friday). The successful candidate will be required to undergo a security screening.
