Senior Business Analyst – Finance Data & Reporting Transformation (Contract)
About the role
Senior Business Analyst – Finance Data & Reporting Transformation (6 months Contract with high potential to extend) 📍 Toronto (Hybrid – 3 days in office) We are working with a major financial institution undergoing a large-scale Finance Reporting Transformation focused on AUM/AUA data, reporting processes, and enterprise data flows across multiple Lines of Business. This is a hands-on Senior BA role for someone who thrives in environments where: Data flows need to be mapped from scratch Current-state processes are fragmented and evolving Strong analytical thinking is required to build structure from ambiguity
🔍 What you’ll be doing Define current state AUM/AUA reporting processes across multiple business units Lead stakeholder workshops to extract, challenge, and structure unclear requirements Build future state process and data flow definitions from the ground up Map end-to-end system transactions and reporting data flows across LoBs Perform data impact analysis, gap assessments, and reconciliation of reporting logic Create data lineage documentation and trace data from source systems to reporting outputs Partner with Finance & Technology teams to bridge business needs with system design Support data quality assessments and identification of automation opportunities Develop BRDs, process documentation, test cases, and UAT support materials Participate in UAT execution, defect tracking, and validation activities

What we are looking for 5+ years as a Business Analyst in Financial Services or Data/Reporting Transformation environments Strong experience in data mapping, data analysis, and requirements gathering Exposure to SQL or data querying is mandatory (for validation and analysis purposes) Ability to work in greenfield / ambiguous environments where structure must be created Experience working with complex data flows and system-to-reporting dependencies Strong stakeholder management across Finance, Operations, and Technology teams Experience producing BRDs, process flows, and structured documentation Strong communication and ability to translate business needs into structured requirements
