About the role
Position Overview We are seeking a highly analytical and collaborative Senior Financial Analyst for our client for a 12-Month Contract. This role is pivotal in ensuring accurate corporate reporting, navigating complex regulatory accounting landscapes, and driving process efficiencies across the organization. The ideal candidate will combine strong technical accounting skills with the ability to translate financial data into actionable business insights.
Key Responsibilities Manage the preparation and detailed review of quarterly input required for consolidated financial statement note disclosures. Oversee the accurate and timely completion of both standard and complex, non-routine journal entries, alongside monthly and quarterly account reconciliations. Produce reliable financial data, analytical insights, and operational support to satisfy electricity regulatory filings and internal management reporting needs. Evaluate and discuss financial performance relative to the business's core value drivers, clearly articulate the underlying story and analysis behind the figures. Stay at the forefront of emerging IFRS guidelines, ensuring continuous compliance and leading to the implementation of new accounting standard updates. Drive continuous improvement and productivity gains by evaluating existing financial workflows, re-engineering processes, and leveraging IT tools for automation. Execute risk management frameworks and internal controls; continuously assess, monitor, and ensure the effective design and operation of existing control mechanisms. Lead meetings and cross-functional initiatives with various business units, utilizing strong communication and influence on secure timely inputs and achieve strategic project outcomes.
Qualifications & Requirements Bachelor’s degree in commerce, Business Administration Active Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation in Canada 5+ years of progressive experience in corporate financial analysis, financial reporting, or a similar role.
