Through coaching, workshops, career resources, and career readiness programming, we help students develop the confidence, skills, and professional awareness needed to navigate their career journey and succeed in an ever-changing labor market.

As a Career Educator, you will deliver student-centered coaching and career development programming that builds the capability, confidence, and career decision-making skills students need to succeed in both Work-Integrated Learning (WIL) and employment. You will support students in exploring career pathways, developing employability skills, and preparing for their next step—whether that is a WIL opportunity, a graduate role, or a career transition. This role focuses on student development outcomes and works closely with WIL Operations and Employer Relations to create a seamless student experience

Key Responsibilities

Career Coaching and Student Success

Provide one-on-one and group coaching to support career exploration, career planning, job search strategies, WIL readiness, and employment preparation. Help students develop professional career materials and build confidence in their career decision-making. Connect students with appropriate supports, services, and resources. Maintain accurate student records and service documentation.

Career Education Programming

Design, develop, and facilitate engaging career development workshops and learning experiences. Deliver programming on topics such as interviewing, networking, career planning, job search, and workplace success. Continuously improve programming using student feedback and labor market insights.

Student Engagement and Career Readiness

Deliver outreach presentations and activities that increase awareness of Career Education services. Prepare students for experiential learning opportunities and successful transitions into employment. Help students understand employer expectations, workplace behaviors, and professional standards

Service Excellence and Continuous Improvement

Manage a high volume of student interactions while delivering exceptional service. Identify trends in student needs and contribute to improvements in programs, services, and resources. Participate in service enhancement initiatives and special projects

Skills & Abilities

Strong career coaching and guidance skills. Knowledge of career development theory, employability skill development, and labor market trends. Excellent facilitation, presentation, and group engagement skills. Strong communication, relationship-building, and active listening abilities. Ability to work effectively with diverse student populations and adapt approaches to meet varying needs. Strong organizational, problem-solving, and time-management skills. Commitment to student success, continuous improvement, and inclusive service delivery

Qualifications

Post-secondary degree 3–5 years of progressive experience in career development, coaching, advising, facilitation, employment services, or a related field. Experience designing and delivering workshops, presentations, or educational programming. Experience supporting students or clients through career development processes. Post-secondary experience is considered an asset. Career Development Professional (CDP) designation or equivalent training is preferred. Knowledge of Work-Integrated Learning and student employability development is preferred. Experience using student and career service technologies such as Symplicity, Campus Solutions, ServiceNow, and/or Brightspace is preferred.

Classification – Student Advisor II (Please note: This position is currently being reclassified).

This position is covered by the Alberta Union of Provincial Employees (AUPE) Collective Agreement.

Remuneration

Refer to salary range noted on this posting, plus a comprehensive benefits package.

The compensation range for this job posting is : $62,629.58 - $83,071.56
