About Us: At Rodan Energy, our mission is Making Sustainable, Attainable. As a leading North American energy services company, we provide innovative energy solutions that help clients reduce energy costs and GHG emissions, support electrification, and enhance grid efficiency. With over 20 years of expertise, we’re trusted by North America’s largest energy users, power producers, and utilities.

Why Join Rodan: Thriving Industry: Join a rapidly growing sector at the forefront of innovation and sustainability, shaping the future of energy management. Product Market Fit: With a 98% client retention rate and consistent YOY growth, Rodan has built a reputation for delivering trusted, long-term partnerships with industry leaders. Top Talent & Strong Culture: Collaborate with high-performing, passionate individuals who are committed to excellence and sustainability.

What Makes This Role Great:

In this role, you will work directly with operational workflows such as facility data aggregation, production system integration, and client onboarding, identifying opportunities to streamline processes and building tools that improve efficiency, data quality, and team productivity. The successful candidate will be expected to learn quickly, map real operating processes, build usable prototypes and automations, document how they work, and communicate trade-offs clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

Process Improvement & Workflow Mapping Analyze and map existing workflows including production triage, client onboarding, facility data issue resolution, data aggregation exception handling, and client-facing operational reporting. Identify manual, repetitive, or rules-driven steps suitable for automation or AI-assisted routing. Enhance Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) for consistency across the team. Produce process maps, exception-handling logic, and handoff documentation that can be used by Data Services after the placement ends. Automation & Agentic AI Solutions Build automation workflows using Azure native tools, scripting, and approved AI tools where appropriate. Develop solutions to extract key information from structured and unstructured sources, automate ticket creation and assignment, classify incoming work, and generate actionable summaries. Implement agentic workflow patterns for coordinating multi-step operational tasks, such as intake, classification, data lookup, exception routing, escalation, and status reporting. Design internal AI assistants and knowledge-search experiences that make SOPs, tickets, and operational documentation easier to access and reuse. Data Quality, Monitoring & Operational Insight Assist in developing tools to monitor interval data for missing data, delayed data, communication issues, and recurring data-quality exceptions. Support creation of alerts, exception reports, and dashboard views that improve visibility into data availability and operational performance. Backlog-Aligned Project Delivery Work from a prioritized backlog of AI, automation, and Data Services improvement opportunities. Action projects which can be completed or materially advanced during the term, with clear scope, success criteria, and adoption path. Prepare demos, documentation, and recommendations that allow Rodan to continue improving the solution after the placement. Team Collaboration Work closely with Data Services, Business Development, Software, IT, and operational teams. Participate in team huddles and share progress updates. Present demos and final deliverables. Communicate risks, assumptions, blockers, and judgment calls early, especially when automation could affect data quality, customer commitments, or operational handoffs.

Required Skills and Qualifications: Currently enrolled in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Analytics, Information Systems, AI, Software Engineering, or a related program. Registered in a recognized co-op program. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to break ambiguous operational problems into structured steps. Basic scripting or programming experience such as Python, SQL, JavaScript, or equivalent. Comfort working with data in Excel, databases, APIs, reports, or operational systems. Strong communication and documentation skills. Demonstrated ownership mindset — follows through, asks informed questions, documents decisions, and escalates risks appropriately. Preferred Exposure to Power Automate, Power BI, Microsoft 365 automation, workflow tools, or similar platforms. Exposure to AI/ML concepts, generative AI tools, agentic AI, prompt engineering, RAG/knowledge-search patterns, or automation tooling. Interest in energy systems, utilities, data operations, metering, demand response, or market operations. Experience mapping workflows, writing SOPs, building dashboards, or improving operational processes. Ability to learn new technologies quickly and adapt as project needs evolve.
