About the role
We have an exciting opportunity for a Junior Structural Engineer to join our New Brunswick Structural Team in our Fredericton, NB office. Do you like to work in a team environment to solve challenging structural problems? We have an exciting opportunity for a Junior Engineer to be part of our Structural Engineering practice. The successful candidate will support a variety of projects within the Industrial, Electrical Utility, Water and Waste Water, Material Handling and Heavy Civil structures side of the practice while gaining hands-on experience and mentorship from experienced professionals. The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills, be a natural problem solver, have strong attention to detail, and be eager to learn and contribute to a collaborative team environment. Familiarity with industry standard software such as ETABS, SAP 2000, S-Frame, Lusas and Revit would be considered an asset. Your Key Responsibilities: Support structural engineering design tasks under the guidance of experienced engineers; Assist with design calculations, analysis, drawings, reports, and technical documentation; Contribute to the preparation of technical specifications and construction documents; Coordinate with engineers, technologists, and other project team members to support project delivery; Participate in site visits, field reviews, meetings, and data collection as required; Assist with construction contract administration tasks under supervision; Review and apply applicable codes, standards, and project requirements; Develop technical skills through mentorship, training, and hands-on project experience; and Communicate effectively with internal project teams, clients, and contractors. Your Capabilities and Credentials: Undergraduate degree in Civil Engineering. Previous co-op, internship, or related experience in structural engineering or consulting would be considered an asset. Registered or eligible to register as an Engineer with APEGNB. An interest in structural design for industrial, electrical utility, water and wastewater, material handling, heavy civil, and building projects. Familiarity with Revit and AutoCAD. Detail oriented, organized, hardworking, with a team player attitude. Ability to balance professional commitments to meet project deadlines. Strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills. Valid driver’s license and be able to travel to job sites within Atlantic Canada.
