Role Description The Electrical Estimator is a full-time hybrid role based in Bedford, NS, with flexibility for some work-from-home arrangements. This role is responsible for preparing detailed electrical estimates for commercial, industrial, and institutional projects, including quantity take-offs, labor and material costing, and bid preparation. Day-to-day tasks include reviewing drawings and specifications, analyzing tender documents, coordinating with project managers and electrical contracting partners, and identifying cost-saving opportunities while maintaining quality and compliance. The Electrical Estimator will support cost control throughout the project lifecycle, assist with budget development, and update estimates based on RFIs, change orders, and revised documents. The role also involves collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to clarify technical details, assess risks, and ensure estimates align with project objectives and client expectations. Qualifications Strong skills in Electrical Estimating and Cost Control for construction projects. Knowledge of Electrical Contracting practices, including bids, tenders, and subcontractor coordination. Solid understanding of Electricity principles and Electrical Engineering fundamentals relevant to building systems. Experience interpreting electrical drawings, specifications, and building codes. Proficiency with estimating software and MS Office (especially Excel). Relevant technical diploma or degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field; equivalent practical experience is also valued. Strong analytical, numerical, and problem-solving abilities, with attention to detail and accuracy. Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work in a hybrid environment and manage deadlines. Experience within Canadian construction markets and familiarity with Nova Scotia and broader North American standards is an asset.
