About the role

Company Description Navio is an AI-powered parenting platform focused on supporting parents of children aged 8–17 through academic, emotional, and social challenges. The product offers a personalized parenting coach that understands each child’s profile and provides tailored, expert-backed guidance instead of generic advice. Parents can access a curated video library, practical resources, and structured child profiles to make the coaching relevant and actionable. Navio is available in English and French, designed with Canadian families in mind but built to serve parents globally. The company is in an early-access stage, growing its product and team to help families navigate the pre-teen and teen years with more confidence. Role Description As a Founding Engineer at Navio, you will build and iterate on core product features across the full stack, from AI-powered conversational interfaces to content delivery and user profile systems. You will design, implement, and maintain scalable, secure, and reliable systems, working closely with the founders to translate parenting and product insights into technical solutions. Daily responsibilities include writing high-quality code, reviewing contributions, setting engineering standards, and improving development workflows and infrastructure. You will help choose and evolve the technology stack, contribute to architecture decisions, and establish best practices for testing, deployment, and monitoring. This is a full-time remote role, requiring strong ownership, comfort with ambiguity, and a collaborative approach to building an early-stage product. Qualifications Strong software engineering skills in modern languages and frameworks (e.g., TypeScript/JavaScript, Python, Node.js, React or similar). Experience with backend systems, APIs, databases, and cloud infrastructure (e.g., REST/GraphQL, relational/NoSQL databases, AWS/GCP/Azure, CI/CD pipelines). Background in building user-facing products, including front-end development, UI integration, and attention to usability and performance. Familiarity with AI/ML or large language model integration, including working with model APIs, prompt design, and safety/guardrail considerations. Comfort with early-stage startup environments: ability to define technical direction, make architecture decisions, and work with limited resources. Strong problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a remote, distributed team. Experience with secure data handling, privacy best practices, and building trustworthy systems for consumer products. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience; previous founding or early-startup experience is a plus.
