About the role
Senior Business Systems Analyst – Capital Markets (Investment Banking) Location: Toronto - Hybrid ( 3 Days a week) Key Responsibilities
Collaborate with stakeholders across Investment Banking (IB) and Capital Markets teams to gather, analyze, and document business and technical requirements. Translate business requirements into detailed functional and system specifications (BRD/FRD). Work across Capital Markets domains including Equities, Fixed Income, Derivatives, Trade Lifecycle, and Trade Surveillance. Analyze and support CAPS (trading, risk, and post-trade systems). Work with CVS (Consolidated/View Systems) to ensure consistent and accurate data across platforms. Perform data analysis, validation, reconciliation, and troubleshooting using SQL. Prepare data mapping, data lineage, and process flow documentation. Support integration with FIX protocol, market data feeds, and reference data systems. Conduct gap analysis, root cause analysis, and impact assessment for system changes and issues. Participate in UAT (test case creation, execution, defect tracking). Work closely with development and QA teams to ensure timely and accurate delivery. Provide production support and resolve system/data-related issues. Ensure data quality, consistency, and governance across systems.
Required Skills & Qualifications
8–10 years of experience as a Business Systems Analyst in Capital Markets. Strong understanding of Investment Banking (IB) and Capital Markets operations. Expertise in trade lifecycle: trade capture, enrichment, validation, and settlement. Experience working with CAPS (Capital Markets platforms). Exposure to CVS (Consolidated or common data/view systems). Strong knowledge of financial instruments: equities, derivatives, fixed income. Hands-on experience with SQL (joins, data extraction, analysis, debugging). Experience in data analysis, data mapping, reconciliation, and data lineage. Familiarity with FIX messaging protocol. Experience with market data and reference data systems. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments. Ability to collaborate with both business and technical stakeholders.
Nice to Have Skills
Knowledge of Trade Surveillance and Regulatory Reporting. Exposure to Python, advanced Excel, or BI tools. Experience with ETL tools (Talend, Informatica, etc.). Understanding of Cloud platforms (Azure/AWS).
