The Role We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Business Systems Analyst to join the Environmental Services IT team. The ideal candidate will play a critical role in bridging the gap between business needs and software development by defining technical requirements and creating high-quality documentation. This position requires strong analytical abilities, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and a solid understanding of software development processes. Familiarity with Environmental Services business operations and current industry specific applications are a strong plus. Key Responsibilities Collaborate with stakeholders, including business teams and software developers, to gather and define requirements for software development projects. Analyze business processes and workflows to identify opportunities for system improvements and align technical requirements with overall business goals. Develop clear, concise, and comprehensive technical documentation, including functional specifications, user stories, and process flows. Translate complex business requirements into actionable technical specifications Participate in project meetings to provide clarity on requirements, unblock development, and track progress. Review technical documents to ensure accuracy, completeness, and adherence to company standards. Collaborate with Quality Assurance (QA) teams to develop test cases and verify that all requirements are precise and verifiable. What We’re Looking For (Qualifications) Bachelor’s degree in a technical field preferred (an Advanced Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in a non-technical field is acceptable if supplemented with highly relevant work experience). Proven ability to work independently and drive progress on software development projects. Demonstrated experience writing technical requirements and documentation, with the ability to convey complex concepts clearly and concisely. Strongly Preferred: Hands-on experience navigating the end-to-end custom application creation process, including leading initial Discovery phases and supporting ground-up builds. Basic knowledge of programming concepts and strong familiarity with SQL and database structures. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for effective collaboration with cross-functional teams. Advantageous: Knowledge of Solid and/or Liquid Waste services. Meticulous attention to detail and a strong commitment to producing quality deliverables. A proactive approach to problem-solving and a continuous improvement mindset. Adaptability in utilizing modern software tools throughout the project lifecycle, including mapping and project tracking with platforms like Linear, Lucid, and Figma. A forward-thinking approach to workflow optimization, especially leveraging AI tools to enhance personal productivity, efficiency, and documentation quality. What We Offer Why join us?
