About the role
Gestion Zagora is a real estate asset management company with a portfolio of over 8,000 residential units across Canada and the United States. As we continue to grow, we are investing in advanced analytics and innovative technologies to drive operational excellence, enhance tenant experiences, and enable strategic decision-making.
About the Data Strategy & Innovation Department Our team leads the transformation of real estate operations through data modernization, workflow automation, and ERP system integration. We partner with departments across the company, including Asset Management, Operations, Accounting, and Leasing to design intelligence tools and create real business value through data and process optimizations.
About the role
This role owns the database layer. You will design and enforce how data is stored, who can access it, and how schema decisions today affect the pipelines and reporting tools built tomorrow. You will work closely with data engineers on the team and interface directly with the Head of DSI on architecture decisions.
What you'll do
Pipeline architecture – Review incoming ETL/ELT pipeline designs for schema impact before implementation; flag write pattern risks, partition misuse, or governance gaps – Own the BQ cost monitoring setup: Partition pruning audits, slot usage, and query cost attribution per team/project – Contribute to orchestration decisions as the team builds new tools and pipelines Database governance & access control – Define and maintain dataset-level and table-level IAM roles across GCP (analyst, engineer, intern tiers with prod protection) – Own the service account inventory — audit permissions, rotate credentials, enforce least-privilege across all pipeline identities – Design and document data retention, archival, and deletion policies across BQ datasets BigQuery maintenance – Audit all existing data sources (ERP exports, Google Sheets, Parquet files, Apps Script pipelines) and map them to a target BQ schema – Design table structures, partitioning, clustering, and write patterns for each module — financial movements, audit snapshots, reference data, slowly changing dimensions – Swap data sources in downstream and upstream tools from legacy origins to BQ without breaking existing outputs
What we're looking for – Hands-on BigQuery experience: schema design, partitioning strategies, DML (MERGE, DELETE+INSERT), and understanding of BigQuery's cost model – GCP IAM fluency: dataset-level permissions, service account management, least-privilege enforcement – Strong opinions on data modeling: you know when to use SCD Type 2 vs a snapshot table vs a full replace, and you can explain the tradeoff without hand-waving – Ability to reason about downstream impact – Python proficiency – Google Workspace stack (Sheets, Apps Script, Connected Sheets to BQ)
Why Join Us? Contribute to strategic initiatives: Work on high-visibility projects that shape the future of our data strategy Collaborate with experienced mentors: Learn directly from professionals in analytics and real estate strategy Gain end-to-end exposure: From dashboard creation and automation to data cleansing and business logic integration Be part of our digital transformation: Join a team driving innovation in reporting, forecasting, and decision support
