Position Summary

Thales is looking for a Data Governance Lead who will be responsible for data governance on the AJISS program, acting as the strategic leader for establishing and ensuring adherence to data governance frameworks. This includes setting data-related goals, aligning data initiatives with business objectives, and leading the overarching data governance strategy for AJISS program. The Data Governance Lead defines data policies and standards to maintain data quality and compliance. The Data Governance Lead champions the importance of data as a strategic asset. They oversee the implementation of data governance tools and technologies and are accountable for measuring the performance of data governance initiatives.

Key Areas of Responsibility

  • Establish and lead a program-wide Data Strategy & Governance initiative comprised of data stewardship and data quality accountabilities for program data assets; Effectively communicate the strategic value and impact of data governance to teams, gaining support and investment to meet governance, organization and technology needs
  • Work with team leads to develop and align on procedural and systematic data standards that ensure timeliness and quality, while complying with data privacy and protection regulations
  • Reinforce program data governance principles and processes and promote adoption across data management systems and teams
  • Facilitate resolution of complex issues related to conflicting data ownership, data and rule definitions, data availability and usage across a broad network of stakeholders
  • Nominate, lead, motivate, and grow newly established team of data Owners, Data stewards, while coordinating data steward community of practice; Oversee management of Data Governance toolset, providing direction on a data model.
  • Understand how different disciplines interact and use/share data; Align the integration of systems and teams to the data model; Understand and drive a data maturity model

Minimum Requirements

  • Proven effectiveness in achieving consensus across a broad array of stakeholders; Ability to apply and coach the principles of data excellence, including development of problem statements and best practice action plans.
  • Proven ability to plan and provide status for the work; Proven ability to roll out a Data Governance project
  • Experience working with ETL, BI Analytics and enterprise governance tools such as SAP, IBM Infosphere, Cognos, Power BI, SAS, SSIS; Experience with data modeling techniques and languages; Experience in a Data Governance Lead role and/or Data Integration, Information Architecture roles, Business Intelligence and Analytics Solution Architecture Experience with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems such as SAP or IBM Maximo; Experience with In-service-support; Windchill;
  • Bachelor's degree, computer science or related technical degree; or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Special Position Requirements

  • Travel: Maximum 4 national trips per year.
