Specialist – Business Intelligence

One (1) temporary (2-year contract), full-time position

As a Business Intel Specialist, you'll design and build visualizations and dashboards in order to support informed decision-making and meet the information needs of the organization. With these goals in mind, you'll work with databases, data warehouses and business intelligence solutions to maximize the use of data.


As Specialist of Business Intelligence, you'll:

  • Design, develop and troubleshoot all features and functionality of Business Intelligence solutions and platforms.
  • Develop and maintain Business Intelligence dashboards, creating visualizations and providing real-time data.
  • Liaise with stakeholders to standardize the delivery, validity and security of dashboards, and with end-users to ensure data visualizations are contextually valid and provide the correct insight.
  • Recommend improvements to streamline processes regarding data flow and data quality to improve data accuracy, usability and value.
  • Produce technical and business documentation, guided by statistical understanding, business context and data governance.
  • Remain current on technology developments within fields relevant to current and future Business Intelligence and Reporting initiatives.


In the role of Specialist – Business Intelligence, you'll leverage the following education, experience and skills:

  • A university degree in Computer Science/Engineering or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Certification as a Database Administrator, preferred.
  • A minimum of five (5) years` experience in the development of Business Intelligence solutions.
  • Demonstrated advanced knowledge of related computer applications pertinent to the function.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of network software.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of designing and developing dashboards and KPIs (Key Performance Indicators).
  • Knowledge of Niche and CAD databases, preferred.
  • Knowledge of law enforcement, preferred.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in data warehousing, data model design and SQL Server Database administration.
  • Demonstrated oral communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated project management skills.
  • Demonstrated analytical, research methodology and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently.

The wage range for this temporary, full-time position is $29.72 - $46.93 per hour.
