Product Manager

Position Summary:

To manage the full life cycle of products, from introduction until end-of-life while also overseeing updates, optimization opportunities. Provide direct input into product roadmap. Developing product strategy, identifying what is needed and key timings. Take the lead in product messaging, develop sales and product launch strategies.

The candidate must have product management or product development experience within a construction, automotive or industrial equipment industry.

This role is a 100% on-site based out of our Guelph, ON location.

Performance Expectations

  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of global product range, and competitive landscape.
  • Set clear vision for product development, defining business case and product definition.
  • Engage with internal and external stakeholders to gather product input.
  • Stay abreast of market outlook, industry trends, and changing conditions.
  • Work closely with Project Manager(s) to ensure that product development projects are delivered on time and within budget; providing leadership and direction to cross-functional team as they execute project objectives.
  • Work with key business leaders to set costing and pricing strategies for product development.
  • Identify future technology development opportunities, work with advanced engineering team on concept development to support future integration into product.
  • Develop in-depth product training, highlighting design, key features, and benefits – deliver to sales team and/or customers.
  • Communicate key product characteristics and attributes to marketing team, assisting development of supporting materials (literature, website, advertising, videos)
  • Represent Skyjack at applicable external / trade association meetings, as required.
  • Provide direct assistance to internal and external staff.

Desired Characteristics & Qualifications

  • University or college degree relevant to field of work.
  • 3+ years of experience with Mobile Elevating Work Platforms or Material Handling required.
  • Self-motivated with strong work ethic, attention to detail and who can work independently.
  • Great at building and maintaining relationships, with the ability to effectively communicate and engage with all levels within an organization.
  • Experience in multi-phase, cross functional project management programs.
  • Ability to create business plans, including detailed analysis, insights, strategy, cost estimates, risk assessment, key milestones and timelines.
  • Capable of understanding product development related documentation, such as engineering designs, cost breakdowns, sales materials, market data, technical journals, financial reports, and other applicable documents
  • Adept in Microsoft applications: Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Power BI, Project
  • Able to travel both locally and internationally, including for extended periods.
  • Experience in a product management or product development role within construction or industrial equipment industry.
