BBA is currently seeking a senior chemical engineer with strong business development skills to join a team that offers high-quality expertise and consulting services. As a senior engineer, you will be required to implement projects in the Advanced Fuels and Chemical sector as well as build and strengthen client relationships and support local department growth.

  • Lead the preparation of process flow diagrams (PFD) and piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs).
  • Prepare technical reports.
  • Lead and review process engineering deliverables produced by other team members.
  • Develop process design basis and criteria.
  • Lead mass and energy balances using simulation software.
  • Lead the preparation of technical specifications for process equipment.
  • Lead or participate in technical and economic studies.
  • Support the development of project cost estimates.
  • Participate in the development and scale-up of novel processes.
  • Supervise a team of engineers, where required.
  • Apply established calculation and design methods.
  • Participate in risk studies (HAZID, HAZOP, LOPA, What-if).
  • Participate in developing and growing the capabilities of the process team and the firm.
  • Support business development efforts and related activities.
  • Prepare proposals and client presentations.

Overview of certifications and job requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering or equivalent
  • 15 + years of relevant experience in the Advanced Fuels and Chemical or Oil & Gas industry
  • Experience in executing detailed engineering projects or engineering consulting.
  • Member of the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta
  • Solid statistical and analytical knowledge
  • Excellent knowledge of fluid mechanics, heat transfer, thermodynamics and other chemical engineering principles
  • Interest in the environment and energy transition
  • Proficient with Aspen Plus and Aspen HYSYS process simulation software
  • Proficient with Fathom and Arrow simulation software for hydraulic calculations
  • Proficient with the Microsoft Office suite
  • Excellent written and spoken communication in English
  • Asset: experience in consulting and established clientele
  • Asset: experience with CCUS (Carbon Capture, Utilization and Sequestration), green hydrogen, methanation, LNG, pyrolysis, gasification, lithium purification and other processes involving hydrocarbons, biofuels and bioplastics
  • Asset: Written and spoken communication in French
