IT Programmer (SQL/BI)- Goreway

Position Summary:

Reporting to the Director of Data Performance, the IT Programmer (SQL/BI) is instrumental in developing the BI and reporting systems and upgrading Sofina's data environment for relevance and modernization. This role contributes to shaping Sofina's data landscape and improving insights to aid strategic decision-making. Success in this role relies on effective collaboration across teams, adept project management, and achieving a balance between maintaining existing systems and fostering innovation.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Design, develop and maintain efficient ETL processes from various data sources including ERP / OT systems and third party data.
  • Design, develop, and maintain SSAS multidimensional and tabular models to support efficient and accurate data analysis and reporting.
  • Execute a comprehensive business intelligence strategy that addresses both the current SQL Server environment and the creation of a progressive data landscape.
  • Develop and implement of a unified data model that encompasses multiple ERP systems to elevate data quality and data literacy across Sofina.
  • Develop visually engaging reports and dashboards utilizing SSRS and Power BI, delivering essential insights to finance, sales, supply chain and other reporting stakeholders.
  • Monitor and enhance the performance of BI solutions, ensuring streamlined operations for both the current and forward-looking environments.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and translate them into efficient and scalable database and integration solutions.
  • Develop, implement and enforce standardized practices and guidelines for data modeling, ETL processes, and reporting ensuring alignment with industry best practices.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related work experience.
  • Minimum 3 years' experience using Microsoft SQL Server, with hands-on experience in writing complex queries, stored procedures, and performance optimization.
  • Experience with the Microsoft BI Stack (SSIS, SSAS, SSRS, Power BI)
  • In-depth knowledge of database development concepts and best practices, including relational database modeling and performance tuning.
  • Experience working with code repositories such as Azure DevOps, Git, GitHub, etc…
  • Experience developing and implementing standardized practices and guidelines for BI development.
  • Experience in database administration, encompassing database design, optimization, maintenance and performance tuning is an asset.
  • Experience working with Azure or other cloud technologies is an asset.
  • Experience working with SQL Master Data Service (MDS) is an asset.

Working Conditions:

  • Works in a hybrid environment.
  • Occasional travel between office locations may be required.
  • Occasional overnight travel may be required.
