THE OPPORTUNITY

As the Accounting Manager - Financial Reporting, you will work closely with the Corporate Controller and own responsibility for the day-to-day, monthly, quarterly and year end accounting and financial reporting activities of the Canadian, US and Inland Lease & Rental accounting departments. In this role you will serve as advisor and strategic business partner to key business leaders, reporting on KPI's and trend analysis, and budget variance. In addition, you will oversee preparation of consolidated financial statements for the Inland Group, doing business in Canada and the US. As Accounting Manager, you will also provide direct supervision and leadership of accounting staff at the corporate office.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Reviews monthly financial statements (operating branches, corporate & combined) received from senior accounting staff
  • Works closely with the Controller and senior management and key operational business leaders to prepare and communicate ad hoc reports
  • Provides coverage for Controller's absence
  • Manages and directs ad hoc accounting or financial projects
  • Identifies areas or processes where internal control and risk management can be improved
  • Manages yearly audit and liaises with external auditors throughout the year
  • Prepares and publishes yearly audited consolidated financial statements including notes
  • Prepares quarterly financial statements for consolidated entity
  • Prepares year end files for various holding companies
  • Manages yearly audit and liaises with external auditors throughout the year

  • Approves local manager quick cheque requests for Canadian branches, releases wires, EFT payments, and ACH payments
  • Manages accounting staff including hiring, monitoring, training, and coaching
  • Conducts annual performance reviews

WHAT WE LOOK FOR

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in accounting is required
  • CPA designation is required
  • 5-8+ years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience in public practice can be an asset to this position
  • Advanced accounting knowledge including ability to prepare, analyze and interpret financial reports
  • Experience providing oversight to the preparation of financial statements and month end reporting packages
  • Supervisory experience is required
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Experience with data analytics tools (eg. power BI) preferred
  • Great interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills with the ability to exercise a high level of judgement and discretion
  • In the future, this role may require limited travel to Canadian and US branches to attend business meetings. As such, a valid Driver's License and Passport are required

SALARY

The salary range for this position is: $115,000-$130,000 annually.
