WHAT YOU WILL DO

Reporting to the GM Capacity Planning, this position has the primary focus on identifying operational strategies for the most efficient use of our core infrastructure; Runways, Aircraft Stands, Terminal, and Baggage Processors by leveraging demand and capacity data analytics coupled with in-depth knowledge of airport infrastructure and systems. The Operations Analyst, Capacity Planning's purpose is to develop technical assessments of demand and capacity to assist YYC in successfully evolving with the growth and evolution of the aviation industry.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Work collaboratively with various internal and external stakeholders and utilize long-term forecasts to assess capacity constraints and provide input for medium and long-term planning for YYC's common-use resources (runways, gates, stands, check-in counters, inbound and outbound baggage carousels).
  • Develop and maintain an Operational Assessment Scorecard for long-term planning for YYC's airside, ground side, and terminal infrastructure and passenger processing points, ensuring YYC can operate as efficiently as possible relative to processing capacity and expected demand.
  • Using a simulation tool, develop a technical analysis for
    • Airfield:
      • GSE staging
      • Baggage Hall movements
      • Airside construction and maintenance programs
    • Terminal:
      • Stands
      • Pre-board screening points
    • Ground transportation:
      • Traffic flow
      • Facilities including the utilization of simulation modeling.
  • Develop data models to evaluate actual and forecasted demand for inbound and outbound baggage carousels to optimize utilization for common use.
  • Identify possible contingency plans for Baggage for planned and unplanned outages.
  • Analyze forecast vs actual data for passenger screening to validate seasonal planning parameters.
  • Collaborate with both internal and external stakeholders in the development and refining of airport systems (processes), passenger flows & behaviour profiling, and operational plans.
  • Develop data models to evaluate stand utilization for concourses, contact stands, remote stands, cargo stands, and off-gate parking.
  • Provide scheduled demand data and insights to the broader organization to ensure a common understanding of demand as well as set the basis for efficient operational planning.
  • Prepare written reports on the analysis of aircraft stands, baggage belts, and check-in counter utilization, identifying areas of improvement and optimization.

WHAT YOU BRING

  • Minimum 5 years of recent, related experience, supplemented by a bachelor's degree; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong understanding of the aviation industry and airport operational processes. Experience in airline operations is an asset.
  • Strong analytical skills, sound judgment, and ability to formulate decisions often without established guidelines.
  • Solid business acumen and business improvement mindset to solve immediate issues and to identify trends, provide recommendations, and plans.
  • Ability to determine frameworks required to establish KPIs.
  • Experience using business intelligence tools for data modeling and predictive analysis.
  • High level of proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (MS Outlook, Teams, Word, PowerPoint and advanced MS Excel skills)
  • Experience in data management, exploration and data mining of large data sets would be an asset
