McElhanney has an exciting opportunity for a Business Intelligence Developer in our Digital Business team. In this role, you will have the opportunity to design and build information products and solutions at McElhanney to guide us on our journey to become Canada’s ACE consultant.

While working in the Vancouver office is preferred, the successful candidate can be based in any city center in BC or Alberta and can work on-site, remote or a combination of both.

What You’ll Be Doing:
As a knowledge expert and experienced BI developer, your primary responsibility is participating in interactions with internal customers to define and document requirements and develop them into enterprise reporting solutions. This position reports to the Division Manager, Information and Data Architecture.

Your responsibilities will include:
  • Collaborating with stakeholders to tell compelling visual stories by assembling business data into reports and dashboards.
  • Facilitating discussions with various stakeholders to extract, validate, and clearly define reporting requirements and business rules.
  • Developing data sets, measures, reports, and other data products to implement stakeholder requirements.
  • Collaborating with Information and Data Architecture teammates and other IT groups to ensure high quality, validated source data is available for reporting.
  • Contributing skills, ideas, and experience as an integral part of an agile business intelligence enterprise team.

What You’ll Bring:
  • Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Business, or another related field.
  • Knowledge of leading industry trends and experience and best practices in delivering business intelligence solutions.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience discerning and documenting business requirements for reporting solutions.
  • At least 4 years of experience in developing Power BI dashboards and solutions.
  • At least 4 years of experience in creating datasets and DAX measures.
  • At least 2 years of experience in creating paginated reports, preferably using Power BI or SQL Server Reporting Services.
  • At least 3 years of experience querying SQL servers, preferably MS SQL Server or Azure Synapse.
  • 6+ years of hands-on experience with data reporting and visualization tools.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a distributed team of BI professionals.
  • Proven experience in executing large initiatives with complex reporting requirements across multiple stakeholders.
  • A track-record of building and fostering strong relationships within an organization.
