The Mining and Metals Process Department has contributed to projects involving a variety of commodities and supported the development and construction of several Canadian concentrators. Through this experience, we've gained valuable expertise in mineral processing, engineering studies and operational excellence. Today, the entire planet is shifting toward greener energy sources and material handling methods in an effort to promote decarbonization, the industrialization of at-risk geographic regions and the digitalization of our world as part of the fourth industrial revolution. Metals are essential for the innovative technologies that we need to transform the planet. BBA aims to continue playing an important role in developing sustainable mines, and our process engineers are proudly taking on new challenges that extend beyond traditional mining and metals initiatives by involving novel commodities and technologies.

• Work with a team of skilled engineers, designers and project support staff
• Manage a variety of cross-disciplinary teams to ensure the cost-effective, safe and timely completion of projects while meeting or exceeding client expectations
• Review and approve process plant material balance, process design criteria, PFDs, P&IDs, plant layouts, technical specifications and technical evaluations
• Prepare capital and operating expenditure assessments
• Liaise with clients on technical matters and present reports, publications and presentations in a professional manner
• Create and review proposals
• Train and share experience-based insights with younger engineers
• Participate in business development and corporate growth activities.

Overview of certifications and job requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Mineral Processing, Metallurgy or Chemical Engineering
• Registered as a professional engineer
• More than 7 years of experience in gold, iron, green energy materials (lithium, graphite, etc.) or base metal operations and/or design
• General areas of expertise: Metallurgical test work planning/analysis, crushing, grinding, flotation, hydrometallurgy, water treatment, gravity separation, pressure oxidation, heap leaching, CIL/CIP and electrowinning/refining
• Strong track record of successfully completing projects in the mining industry
• Available for occasional travel to domestic and international destinations
• Enthusiastic and business development/corporate growth mindset
• Experience using Microsoft Office and process simulation software
• Excellent communication skills, both spoken and written (English and French)
• Significant asset: Feasibility study and NI 43-101 experience
• Asset: Experience with chemical processing and thermal balances
• Asset: Interested in process control and optimization
• Asset: Operational and/or consulting experience
• Asset: Demonstrated ability to find innovative solutions to complex metallurgical problems
